Turner County, Georgia was established in 1905, the county name originated from Dooly, Irwin, Wilcox and Worth Counties. The county was named after Captain Henry Gray Turner (1839 – 1904), U.S. Congressman; a hero of the War between the States. Turner County has a total area of 286 square miles, with a total population of 8410 residents (and a population density of 29.41 residents per square mile).
