Hall County, Georgia was established in 1818, the county name originated from Cherokee Cessions of 1817 and 1819. The county was named after Dr. Lyman Hall (1724 – 90), one of Georgias delegates to the Continental Congress who signed the Declaration of Independence; became the governor of Georgia in 1783. Hall County has a total area of 394 square miles, with a total population of 185416 residents (and a population density of 470.6 residents per square mile).
