Wayne County, Georgia was established in 1803, the county name originated from Creek Cession of 1802. The county was named after General Anthony Wayne (1745 – 96), known as “Mad Anthony Wayne”; U.S. Congressman; a hero of the Revolutionary War and the Northwest Indian War. Wayne County has a total area of 645 square miles, with a total population of 30305 residents (and a population density of 46.98 residents per square mile).
