Jenkins County, Georgia was established in 1905, the county name originated from Bulloch, Burke, Emanuel, and Screven Counties. The county was named after Charles Jones Jenkins (1805 – 83), governor of Georgia, who was the author of the famous Georgia Platform of 1850. Jenkins County has a total area of 350 square miles, with a total population of 9213 residents (and a population density of 26.32 residents per square mile).
