Gordon County, Georgia was established in 1850, the county name originated from Cass (now Bartow) and Floyd Counties. The county was named after William Washington Gordon (1796–1842), first president of the Central of Georgia Railroad. Gordon County has a total area of 355 square miles, with a total population of 55766 residents (and a population density of 157.09 residents per square mile).
