Dodge County, Georgia was established in 1870, originating from Montgomery, Pulaski and Telfair counties. The county was named after William Earle Dodge (1805 – 1883), temperance leader; businessman from New York; a co-founder of Phelps, Dodge, and Company, a mining and metals company. Dodge County has a total area of 501 square miles, with a total population of 21329 residents (and a population density of 42.57 residents per square mile).
