Coweta County, Georgia was established in 1826, originating from Created on Creek lands ceded in 1825 in the treaty of Indian Springs and Creek Cessions of 1826. The county was named after Coweta tribe of the Creek Nation and their village near Columbus. Coweta County has a total area of 443 square miles, with a total population of 130929 residents (and a population density of 295.55 residents per square mile).
