Clinch County, Georgia was established in 1850, originating from Lowndes and Ware counties. The county was named after General Duncan Lamont Clinch (1784 – 1849), a hero of the War of 1812 and the Seminole War; U.S. Congressman. Clinch County has a total area of 809 square miles, with a total population of 6718 residents (and a population density of 8.3 residents per square mile).
