Yuba County, California is a suburban county established in 1850. The county court complex is located in the county seat city of Marysville. The county was named after the Maidu people, a local Native American tribe who live on the banks of the Feather and Yuba Rivers, for one of their villages, or by Gabriel Moraga for the wild grapes (Vitis californica) that grow abundantly at the edge of the rivers (uva is Spanish for “grape”). Originally formed from previously undeclared California territory, Yuba County makes up 630 square miles of California territory (with 816.25 miles of public roadway). A recent census estimate indicates that there are approximately 74492 residents in the county. The median household income in 2015 was reported to be $58766. In December 2016, the county had a reported unemployement rate of 6.1% (the county employed 1815 people in 2015).
