About the County: Established in 1854, Nemaha County, Nebraska was originally one of the first nine counties established in the state. The county was named after Nimaha, the Oto name meaning miry water for a stream which crossed the county and emptied into the Missouri River. Nemaha County has a reported population of 7157 residents, and makes up 409 square miles of Nebraska’s land area. The count court is located in the county seat city of Auburn, Nebraska.
