About the County: Morgan County, Illinois was founded in 1823. The county was named after Gen. Daniel Morgan (1736–1802), successful tactician in the American Revolutionary War and later United States Representative from Virginia. The Morgan County court complex is located in the county seat city of Jacksonville.
