About the County: Established in 1856, Madison County, Nebraska was originally formed from Loup County, and McNeale County, and unestablished Nebraska territory. The county was named after Either James Madison, the fourth president of the United States; or, more likely, Madison, Wisconsin, where most of the new county’s settlers were from. Madison County has a reported population of 35278 residents, and makes up 573 square miles of Nebraska’s land area. The count court is located in the county seat city of Madison, Nebraska.
