Livingston County was established in 1833. The county was originally formed from parts of Shiawassee County and Washtenaw County. Livingston County was named after Edward Livingston (1764-1836), the second Secretary of State in the Andrew Jackson administration. The county has a total of 180967 residents, and makes up an area of 585 square miles.
