Created as one of the 17 original counties of the Territory of Colorado, Renamed South Arapahoe County for the five months from November 15, 1902 to April 11, 1903, the county was named for predecessor Arapahoe County, Kansas Territory, which in turn was named for the Arapaho Nation of Native Americans.The county seat and county court building is located in the city of Littleton, Colorado.
